Seneca Chief Receives Raise in Salary

Chief Michael E. Hanlin, veteran head of the Seneca, N. Y., fire department, was granted a raise in salary by the board of fire commissioners, effective July 1, on August 31. This closes a controversy, in which the chief resigned his position to take effect on September 1. The raise given Chief Hanlin was $175, bringing his yearly salary up to $500. He has been at the head of the department since a large fire in 1890, which destroyed the greater part of the business section. Chief Hanlin has been a member of the fire forces since July, 1882.
