September Fire Losses $21,198,000
Fire losses in the United States during the month of September, according to the estimate given out by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, amounted to $21,198,000. This is the seventh consecutive month that the losses were less than the losses of the corresponding month of last year. The September fire loss is seven per cent lower than that of September, 1939, but two per cent higher than the total losses for August of this year. The nine months total for this year is lower than the nine months total of 1939 by $1,698,800.
