Silver Service for James M. Pitblado
A Committee of Water Works Contractors and Material men was appointed, last June, by the fraternity to secure donations for a wedding gift from the many friends of James M. Pitblado, assistant contracting manager of the Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company, who became a benedict on June 29th. The personnel of the Committee was as follows: Wm. Danforth, Chairman, St. Paul; C. J. Anderson, Minneapolis; P. G. Pastoret, Duluth; H. P. Burgum, Minneapolis; Wm. Gibson, St. Paul; C. H. Porritt, Fargo, and J. F. Gould, Secretary, Minneapolis. Funds were collected to purchase a fine sterling silver service of eighty-seven pieces. Inasmuch as Mr. and Mrs. Pitblado maintained a summer residence at Lake Minnetonka, the Committee decided to delay presenting the gift until their arrival in Minneapolis, Minn., for the winter. On Monday evening, November 8th, fifteen water works men with their wives surprised Mr. and Mrs. Pitblado by unexpectedly calling upon them. The gift presentation was very gracefully made by William Gibson of the Waterous Engine Works, who is honored by all who know him. The following were present: Mr. Wm. Gibson, St. Paul; Miss L. Armstrong, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Fraser, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Burgum, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Wallace, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Anderson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. P.
