Six Firemen Arrested for Arson
Six members of the volunteer Fire Department of Absecon, N. J., are being held on charges connected with alleged incendiary fires that occurred during the last two months.
In all, five fires were set, and in each case, there were traces of gasoline after the fire had been extinguished. Suspicion was aroused because of the prompt response of some of the firemen after the fire had been reported.
When arrested, the firemen admitted their part in the crime and said that they did it for the thrill of fighting a fire and for want of something to do. As a result of the arrests. Absecon is now without a garbage collector, for he was one of the five volunteers arrested.
