Social Media Used in New Mexico to Prep for Wildfire Season

Both government and private residents in New Mexico are using social media to help prepare for the upcoming wildfire season, reports KOB Albuquerque.

A state-run e-mail system will send wildfire alerts to people who desire to receive the news. Also, a resident who lost her home 12 years ago to fire, has turned to Facebook to help provide housing for residents displaced by fire. The group is called HEED (Housing for Emergency Evacuated and Displaced) and is currently seeking volunteers and potential hosts for the 2012 fire season
