South Dakota Chiefs Meet

The fire chiefs of South Dakota recently met in their second annual convention which was held in the parlors of the Cataract Hotel of Sioux Falls. The officers of the association are J. B. Mayo, Lead, president; F. E. Crawford, Wessington Springs, vice-president; J. P. McEIroY, Rapid City, treasurer, and Wm. Sloan, Sioux Falls, secretary. W. N. Van Camp, state insurance commissioner, and S. E. Crane and G. H. Henry, state fire mashals, were in attendance and took part in the meeting. Members of the State Fire Prevention association were present to take part in the meeting and its discussions. A very fnteresting program. consisting of papers and addresses along the lines of fire prevention, was arranged. A moving picture film of fire prevention had been secured from the national fire underwriters’ laboratories, and through the courtesy of A. K. Pay of the Conolial theater it was put on at the last show. Secretary Springer of the Commercial Club arranged to give the visiting chiefs an auto ride around the city. The members of the Sioux Falls fire department gave a demonstration of their fire fighting apparatus and in other ways helped to entertain the visiting chiefs.
