Southeastern Pennsylvania Convention

Southeastern Pennsylvania Convention

The Firemen’s Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania at its meeting in Steelton, Pa., on February 21, decided to hold its next annual convention at the Veteran Firemen’s Home, on East Princess Street, York, Pa. It is expected at this meeting that the association in Lebanon and Adams counties will be admitted to membership and a second vice-president, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Charles Bush of York, will be elected. At the meeting in Steelton, which was attended by fifty members representing fire companies of Dauphin, York, Lancaster and Cumberland counties, the association entered its protest against the elimination of the state bureau of fire protection, this bureau not being provided for in the budget sent to the state legislature. The association also protested against the proposed abolition of the 2 per cent, premium tax levied by the state on foreign fire insurance companies, from which the fire companies of the state derive benefits. J. L. Redman, member of the Shamrock Fire Company of Harrisburg. Pa., was elected secretary at the meeting.
