Springfield Issues Goggles to Fire Fighters

Safety took a long stride forward in Springfield, Ohio, recently when Fire Chief Willard G. Compton issued protective goggles to each member of his department. Chief Compton said eye injury is not rare in his department and goggles not only offer protection to his men but materially reduces line-of-duty injuries. The goggles cost $1.50 each and are light in weight and comfortable to wear. Impervious to the average heat that the human body can bear, they shield the area surrounding the eye, keeping water and dusts away. Vented to reduce fogging, the goggles have replaceable lenses in the event of breakage.
