SPRINKLERS FOR CAR BARNS.
The New York City Railway company has filed plans with the building superintendent of the city for equiping the Metropolitan street railway car barn on the Twelfth avenue block, from Forty-second to Forty-third street, with automatic sprinklers, for extinguishing fires. It will be built under a deckhouse in the centre of the roof, and will be supplied by two storagetanks of 25,000 gals, capacity each, and five pressure-tanks of 7,500 gals. each. The improvements will cost $5,000.
