Foamite-Chiids Conducts Test at Mt. Vernon A test of the foam generator of the Foamite-Chiids Corporation was made at Mt. Vernon, N. Y., and many of the fire chiefs from nearby towns were invited to attend. A pit twenty feet in diameter was dug and filled with two hundred gallons of fuel oil, and twenty-five gallons of gasoline. After this had been ignited and had been burning for a short while, the flame was extinguished in fifty seconds by the steam from the foam generator. At this test, 175 pounds of foam powder was used to extinguish the blaze.
