Stephan J. Hauser Superintendent of the Youngstown Filter Plant

Stephan J. Hauser Superintendent of the Youngstown Filter Plant

Stephan J. Hauser, who recently assumed charge of the Youngstown, Ohio, filter plant, was educated in the public schools of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. The first five years of his business career he was associated with the blast furnace and foundry industries. For the past eight years he has been identified with the Cincinnati water works filtration plant, as chemist, bacteriologist, and finally as assistant superintendent. Before leaving his home city Mr. Hauser was offered the superintendency of the water works, but he replied that he preferred the Youngstown position, as it presented greater problems. In speaking of his present post, Mr. Hauser said: “I have no plan. I expect first to study the situation and find out what is necessary to be done. At Cincinnati we treated the water by sedimentation, coagulation with chemicals and, if necessary, disinfection and secured as good water as any place is able to do with a polluted source.”
