Study of Flammability Tests

Study of Flammability Tests

Test methods for determining fabric flammability hazards will be investigated under a six-month $22,369 grant awarded by the National Bureau of Standards to the textiles and consumer economics department of the University of Maryland.

The study will first investigate the extent to which a fiber is consumed during burning, the fiber’s heat of combustion, the formation of heat and drips, and their influence on the heat generated.
