Texas Firemen Double Training

Texas Firemen Double Training

The 32 fire departments in Tarrant County, outside Fort Worth, Tex., city limits, are doubling their training periods this year, according to Fire Marshal Mason Lankford. Instead of an annual training session, the firemen will have two. The first was held on May 21 at the Arlington Fire Department training ground. The second will be held in October.

Mr. Lankford said the Tarrant County fire departments answered 910 alarms in one month—March—of which 585 were for grass fires. He listed 89 alarms for structural fires, 177 miscellaneous, 156 calls to assigned rural areas, 75 mutual aid alarms, 34 false alarms, 13 resuscitator calls and 13 ambulance calls. The departments also responded to 46 fire calls within the city limits of Fort Worth.
