The Largest Dam in Europe
In order to protect the Province of Silesia from disastrous floods and at the same time to develop hydro-electric power, the Prussian government has just completed the construction of the largest dam in Eurone. It is built on the Bober river, a tributary of the Oder. The reservoir behind it is 5 1/4 miles long: and the greatest depth of water is 153 feet: the height of the dam is 203 feet: it is curved up stream and is 165 feet wide at the base. It impounds 1,765,000.000 cubic feet of water.
