THE LATE FOURTH.

THE LATE FOURTH.

OUR country has passed another mile post. In time past the Fourth of July was a day of conflagrations, and it is yet to a considerable extent, but with revised and improved regulations regarding the use of fireworks and other combustibles and with increased vigilance on the part of the Fire Departments ; the day is now gone through with without the great losses of former years. Reports have, however, been received of numerous small losses in various cities owing to fireworks, which in the aggregate amount to a sum of considerable extent and it is probable that it would be just as well for the insurance companies if there was’ no Fourth of July.
