To Help Ohio to Rebuild Its Ruined Cities
The Federal Government has offered the services of its expert engineers to such communities in Ohio as suffered during the recent floods. These engineers are ready to consult with and advise and direct local authorities in the work of reconstruction and repair. They are to consult with local authorities as to the most practicable and effective measures for the prevention of damage by floods to works constructed for the improvement of navigation, of interference with State commerce and other disastrous results. Extraordinary powers and scope are given to the hoard, as it will investigate conditions on all streams, even those lying wholly within one State. I lie board will also give advice and assistance to any community in the supervision of plans for reconstruction and repairs. Its members will not draw plans, but will pass upon any that are submitted and will act as consulting engineers.
