T.O.A.D.TM (TEMPERATURE OPERATED ALARM DEVICE)
DigiTemp Electronics, Inc.: Microprocessor-controlled temperature sensing device mounts inside firefighter`s helmet. One sensor mounts on high-temperature flex membrane cable and measures ambient air temperature. Seven vertically arranged LEDs on cable routed through helmet webbing to outside in firefighter`s field of view. LEDs light up in 20-degree increments starting at 1307F, alerting user to ambient temperature and rate of rise. Two other sensors mounted inside bunker coat in upper arm areas monitor internal temperature. Audible alarms sound when temperature reaches dangerous level. Web site: www.toadinfo.com. (561) 753-4868.
