Typhoid Fever in District of Columbia.

Typhoid Fever in District of Columbia.

With a view to determining the cause of the prevalence of typhoid fever in the District of Columbia and arriving at some conclusion as to the best means of checking it, Commissioner West recommended that the health department begin an investigation of the drinking water at near-by summer resorts, on railway trains which run into the District, and on boats operating on the Potomac river. Upon information received that certain of the river boats supply their water coolers with water from the river, the health department has requested the United States public health and marine hospital service to investigate the alleged practice.
