Plans for Fire Prevention Week—Plans are being formulated by the National Fire Protection Association for the observance of Fire Prevention Week, which includes October 7 to 13. At a meeting of the committee of the association on this subject, of which T. Alfred Fleming is chairman, in New York on June 12, comprehensive plans were formulated for observing October 7 to 13, 1923 as Fire Prevention Week. The plan is to co-ordinate the activities of all local interests under the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce, and to secure as permanent results as far as possible: (1) Better
fire protection for schools and institutions; (2) Fire prevention instruction in schools where not already taught; (3) Inspection of buildings by tire department bureaus, or extension of this work where a system of inspection is already in force; (4) Correction of deficiencies in building codes.
