USFA Delaying the opening of 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Program

Washington, D.C. – The United States Fire Administration (USFA) is announcing today, a temporary delay in the opening of the 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This temporary delay is due to unanticipated technicalities experienced over the weekend. A new opening date will be announced in coming days. As of this time, the application process is currently closed.

“Over the weekend we experienced some unanticipated problems which necessitated this delay.” R. David Paulison, USFA Administrator said. “We are all aware of the importance of this program, and the anticipation of America’s fire service to submit applications. In order for this program to proceed as seamlessly as years past, this short delay is necessary. I appreciate your patience as we work through these issues.”

On February 26, 2003 the USFA announced the opening of the application period would start March 3, 2003. The staff of the USFA is currently working to correct the problems, and will announce a new opening date as soon as possible.
