Utica Annual Report
The report of Chief D. J. Sullivan, of the Fire Department of Utica, N. Y., for the month of February, shows there were 36 alarms of fire during the month of which 12 were by fire alarm telegraph, 17 by telephone and four verbal. There were three visible alarms and three were false. There were 33 actual fires. Three fires were extinguished by members of the department that were not regularly answered by the department. Of the whole number of fires there were 14 in brick buildings, 9 in frame buildings and 10 other than in buildings. The department was in service 45 hours and 29 minutes and 11,300 gallons of water and 255 gallons of chemicals were used.
