Water Improvements at Springfield.
At Springfield, Mo., M. B. Hart, chairman of the water committee, has submitted a report which if carried out will necessitate extensions and betterments of the present system. The report deals with the investigation of three sources of supply. Two are pronounced as sanitary and palatable, but contaminating sources have been discovered along the line of the third. Ihe committee recommends that a stand pipe he erected in the northeast part of the city and also one in the south part of Springfield, and that a pipe line be constructed from Valley spring to the northeast part of the city, also that a pipe line he constructed from the James river to the standpipe in the southern part of the city, and that settling basins and filters be constructed for each standpipe. If these recommendations are earned out the committee believes the present and future needs of the city with respect to water supply will be provided for a long time to come.
