Water Project at Corpus Christi

A proposal to furnish filtered water to the water system of Corpus Christi. Tex., has been made by J. M. Nix who in outlining his proposition. said: “The city will continue to own its water works system, will continue to make extensions and furnish water to the consumers and the consumers will continue to deal with the city directly in all matters pertaining to the water works system. I propose to sell pot able, filtered water to the city and deliver it into the city pipe line at the city limits. There my connection with the water works system will cease. The city would not use in excess of a million gallons of water daily if the inhabitants could get water fit for use and in sufficient quantities for their use. Water will cost not to exceed a fixed sum per thousand gallons, and tilt* cost to tlie consumer ought to he reduced hy the city at least one-half its present rates. The city will have only to maintain its standpipe. mains and distributing mains in the city. The question is simply whether the city will water system of Corpus Christie. Tex., has been continues to obtain its water supply from the Nueces River, and continue to pump same to the city limits, or make a contract with J. M. Nix to furnish the city a supply of potable, filtered water, delivered in the city mains at the city limits.”
