WATER SUIT AT HOUSTON.
In reply to the claim of the city of Houston, Tex., in its suit against the local water company, that the water from Buffalo bayou was furnished for domestic purposes by the company is wholly unfit and dangerous for such use, the company holds that the city has taken no care to keep the stream pure, but has permitted sewers to empty into it. The company says that it knows of a dairy being located on its banks, and similar conditions that have caused the water to be impure. One expert witness stated that under no conditions could a stream run through as large a city as Houston be made to supply pure water.
The 100,000-gallon reservoir to be built at Fort Miley, Cal., is to be of reinforced concrete.
