Water Works Finances
The very important review of the water works financial situation by Leonard Metcalf, published in this week’s issue of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING, emphasizes one fact in particular. This is that, while there is yet much to be desired, from this standpoint, in the water works situation, the position of the utilities is, taken as a whole, rather more secure and rests upon a surer basis than at any time in the past. While prices of commodities and labor are still abnormally high and promise to remain so for an indefinite period, the income of the water works, as a rule, has increased, rates in general are higher, and the water works are in better financial condition than at any time since the World War.
Furthermore, judging from indications, there is every reason to believe that this improvement will continue.
