Water Works for Pompton, N. J.

By the unusual vote of eight to one a bond issue of $75,000 for municipal water works and electric light was voted April 11, by the borough of Pompton Lakes, N. J. The State Board of Health and Water Supply Commission having approved of the plans, and all necessary legal requirements having been complied with, i_____ is expected that both plants can be put in operation during the present year. Gas engine-gas producer power will be used; pumping from caisson wells to proposed reservoir on Cedar Hill, whence the water supply will be delivered under about 80 pounds in the borough for use, through about ten miles of mains, while every street will be supplied with electric current for street lighting and commercial use. Joseph B. Rider, of New York, is consulting engineer.
