Waterbury-Bridgeport Volley Ball

Waterbury-Bridgeport Volley Ball

The volley ball team representing the Waterbury, Conn., department was defeated at volley ball by the Bridgeport outfit three straight games, 15-11, 15-10 and 15-8. The games were keenly contested and were witnessed by Mayor William H. Sandland and the fire commission of Waterbury. The visiting team from the Brass City was feted by the winners after the games. Members of the department have taken an active interest in volley ball, and a league with practically 85 per cent of the men taking part is soon to be formed. Through the recreation board, which controls all sports in Bridgeport, the use of the State armory has been tendered to the firemen. A schedule which will run until next spring is being arranged by a committee picked from the department, with Raymond Sullivan, of Truck Company 2, as chairman.
