Waterous Engine at Forest Fire.
Chief A. V. Tiffany, of Peliston, Mich., writes as follows: “At the time of the forest fire in our vicinity we were called to assist on Thursday, April 8. The Waterous engine had two short runs before 11 p. m„ at which time we got it located with 950 ft. of hose laid, and it ran steadily from then until the next forenoon, when the engineer shut down for oiling. When the machine had been oiled and cleaned it was again started and ran the rest of the dav, Friday, all that night and until 10 o’clock Saturday morning. The total number of hours the engine ran from Thursday to Saturday was about theirty-eight. Last year the department earned and received $125 for going outside of the corporation and fighting forest fires. The members of the Peliston fire department are as fully deserving of praise as the engine with which they had to work.”
