Waterous Engine at Frederick.

Waterous Engine at Frederick.

The Waterous gasoline engine delivered to Frederick, Md., two weeks ago has given much satisfaction to the residents of that city. In the preliminary trial over 26 miles of country road, the engine, which was in charge of Mr. C. P. Waterous and Mr. W. M. Gibson, expect consulting mechanician of the Waterous Engine Works Company of St. Paul, exceeded the work expected of it considering the bad condition of the roads traveled. The trip was made from Frederick with seventeen people aboard, and ended at Walkerville. The following time was made on four divisions of the trip. On the return run, with twenty people on the engine, the figures were: Frederick to Buckeystown, 25 minutes; Buckeystown to Frederick, 21 minutes; Frederick to Walkerville, 27 minutes; and Walkerville to Frederick, 23 minutes. Where possible and where the road would permit, the engine acted well, exceeding 25 miles an hour. The official tests will soon he made, of which a full report will he printed in this journal.
