Well-Merited Praise for Chief Wm. T. Belt.

The report of the chairman of the House District committee, Representative Taylor, of Ohio, says of Chief Engineer William T. Belt, of the Washington, D. C., fire department, that he “has been in the fire department service in the District of Columbia for a period of forty-five years, having begun his career as a private and reached his present position by promotion by reason of faithful attention to his duties. For all this long period of service he has an enviable record, never having had a charge of any character preferred against him and being held in affectionate regard bv the citizens of the District, the press and the subordinates in the entire fire department.”
