Wells at Emporia.
Up to the present time the water of the Neosho river—the source of supply for Emporia, Kan., especially after fires, is often unfit for domestic use. The same has been the case every spring. This will soon be changed and pure water will be substituted for the old Supply. It is proposed to dig about thirty-eight wells. The big well is at present down to 21 ft. The water supply is about 30 ft. deep. This is the main or reservoir well. Thirty-eight other wells are in process of being drilled. These will feed the main well. The water will be run from these wells through a 16-in. pipe to the main well, and thence will he pumped to the town.
