Video: Firefighters Operate at West Hempstead (NY) House Fire

A Long Island home was heavily damaged by a raging fire on Tuesday afternoon, April 3.

The blaze broke out in the cape cod style house on Redmont Road in West Hempstead, New York, a few minutes after noon.

Firefighters encountered  heavy fire coming from a second floor window on arrival. It was later reported that the residents were away at the time of the fire

The blaze took more than an hour to bring under control. Nassau County Fire Marshals were responding to the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause.
