Western Trip to Fire Chiefs’ Convention
For the accommodation of the western chiefs and other members of the International Association of Fire Engineers, a trip has been arranged by James G. Matheny, western branch manager of the Stutz Fire Engine Company of Indianapolis, Ind., with offices at 212 Westport Avenue, Kansas City, Mo. It has been decided to use the Missouri Pacific to St. Louis, Louisville & Nashville to Louisville and the Chesapeake & Ohio to Richmond as follows:
Lv. Kansas City 12:20 Noon 20 via Mo. Pac.
Ar. St. Louis … 8:30 p. m. 20 via Mo. Pac.
Lv. St. Louis … 9:04 p. m. 20 via L. & N.—L. H. & St. L.
Ar. Louisville… 7:20 a. m. 21 via L. & N.—L. H. & St. L.
Lv. Louisville… 8:45 a. m. 21 via C. & O.
Ar. Richmond… 7:30 a. m. 22 via C. & O.
Mr. Matheny has arranged to operate a through Pullman from Kansas City to Virginia on the above schedule for all delegates and their friends from the Western territory and hopes to have all of the Western States members join the party at Kansas City, so as to enter St. Louis with three or four cars.
The one way rate from Kansas City to Richmond, Va., is $43.32 and Mr. Matheny understands that a rate of fan: and a half for round trip has been named, which will make the total cost from Kansas City $64.98. The lower berth rate, Kansas City to Richmond, is $12; upper $9.60 and drawing room $42. The route chosen has many advantages, as it includes the beautiful scenery of the Missouri Pacific to St. Louis, the trip through the blue grass section of Kantucky and the journey through the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains on the C. & O.
It is expected that a very large delegation of the Western chiefs and others will take advantage of this trip.
