What Is Fire?
Few of those who spend the best part of their lives battling with the destroying element really can answer this question. They know that in a general sense, fire is heat which has reached the combustion stage and has caused the area involved to burst into flames. They know that certain elements must combine to sustain the combustion and without these elements the flames cannot live, and so on.
But, if asked to actually define what Fire itself is, the majority of fire fighters would be completely at sea, it is feared.
In this issue, Mr. Wedger, in his clear and interesting style, has answered the question and in addition, gives some other helpful hints as to Fire Fighting. His article, which is published for the first time, is well worthy of careful study.
