The National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA) is having its annual meeting at FDIC again this year. The NFAAA’s Chief Ron Kanterman says, “It’s a great opportunity to get together and discuss the issues surrounding the campus and the curriculum along with the campus bosses.” Invited to speak are NFA Superintendent Dr. Denis Onieal, Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator Glenn Gaines, and others.
Kanterman explains why the meeting is held at FDIC: “It’s the crossroads of the fire world, the ‘Times Square on New Year’s Eve’ of the fire service.”
He says he looks forward to rekindling old friendships, learning and networking opportunities, and seeing new products at FDIC 2013. This will be his 23rd year attending.
Does he have any advice for first-time attendees? “Talk to the vets. Take advice on what’s good vs. what’s great and getting the best bang for your buck,” he says.
