Wholesale Liquor House Burns
The wholesale liquor store of the Jesse Moore Hunt Company, San Francisco, Cal., was partially destroyed by a recent fire. The fire from an unknown cause started on the top floor at 12.25 A. M., and when the fire department arrived flames were bursting through the windows. For four hours the department fought it with twelve engines; three ladder trucks, a chemical engine, a water tower and a monitor battery. The building covered 40 x 100 feet ground space, was four stories high and constructed of brick four years ago. It was provided with hand hose reels and fire escapes. The new high pressure water system which was within 500 feet of the building, provided three 200-pound pressure streams through a twenty-inch man. The engines were attached to low pressure system hydrants with 60 pounds pressure on eight-inch mains.
