Wyoming County Firemen Organize
The volunteer firemen of Wyoming County, N. Y., organized an association at Warsaw, August 18. Chief Hain, of Warsaw, was elected president; Chief Michael Wheaten, Silver Springs, vice-president; Captain F. A. Coleman, of Perry, secretary, and J. C. Schwalenstocker, of Attica, treasurer. An exexecutive committee consisting of F. A. Noble, of Perry, E. D. Jones of Wyoming, J. M. Slater of Attica, William Everets of Arcade. F. W. Terry of Silver Springs, E. A. Kemp of Pike, Alex Armour of Castile, and Charles A. Webster of Warsaw, was elected and instructed to prepare a constitution, etc., and to select the place for holding the next convention, which will probably be Attica. The delegates were entertained at dinner by the local department and the dinner was followed by a parade with exhibition hitch-ups, etc. In 1898 the firemen of Wyoming and Genessee counties organized a similar association, which lapsed out of existence after a few years.
