Brooklyn (NY) Three-Alarm Fire Sends Five to Hospital

FDNY firefighters faced brutal weather conditions early Wednesday as they battled a three-alarm fire in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn.

The fire, which erupted around midnight at a building on East 38th Street, left five people hospitalized and multiple families displaced, CBS New York reports.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic at the back of the home, likely due to an electrical problem, FDNY said.

Among the injured are a 57-year-old woman, who sustained burns on her arms and back, and an 83-year-old man, treated for smoke inhalation. All victims are expected to recover.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene, contending with frozen hydrants and icy conditions that hampered their efforts.
