D.C. Firefighter Dies After Medical Emergency

A firefighter died days after suffering a medical emergency at the D.C. Fire and EMS training facility, reports NBC Washington 4.

Technician Alex Graham, 48, suffered what has been described as a “critical medical emergency.” It’s not yet clear what sort of illness or injury he suffered.

D.C. Fire Chief Gregory Dean said staff and physicians at George Washington University Hospital did all they could.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, on Thursday, October 24, 2019, Firefighter Alex Graham was conducting pump testing at the D.C. Fire and EMS Training Academy when he suffered a medical emergency.  He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, from an aortic dissection.

He had 17 years of service.
