Former San Antonio Fire Union Leader Indicted on Stalking Chief Candidates

Christopher Steele, the former head of the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association, has been indicted by a Bexar County grand jury on felony stalking charges.

Steele, 58, is accused of harassing applicants for the city’s fire chief position, including current Fire Chief Valerie Frausto, who secured the job in October, KENS 5 reports.

According to court records, Steele allegedly sent emails and texts under the alias “Frank,” threatening to release damaging allegations against Frausto unless she withdrew her candidacy for the position.

Frausto reported the threats to the city attorney’s office, prompting an investigation that tied Steele to the communications. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. No trial date has been set.
