GRANDVILLE, MI – Michigan State Police are reminding drivers to pull over for emergency vehicles after a fire truck was struck Wednesday night on I-196 near Chicago Dr.
MSP troopers and firefighters from the Grandville Fire Department were responding just after 8 p.m. to a box truck that had run off the road and rolled onto its side.
The driver had minor injuries from the crash.
As first responders attended to the driver, a second vehicle struck the back of the parked, fully illuminated fire truck, according to a post on X from MSP.
That driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No fire personnel were injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol may be factors in the second crash.
