Houston Firefighter Injured in Fall Through Roof at Apartment Fire

A Houston firefighter was injured Thursday evening while battling a fire at a vacant apartment in the Galleria area.

The fire broke out around 7:20 p.m. at an apartment complex on Bering Drive near Westheimer Road.

The roof of the apartment building sustained significant damage.

Initial reports labeled the incident as a Mayday call, but fire officials later clarified that this was incorrect.

Click2Houston reports the injury occurred when the firefighter fell through the roof of the structure, which was under construction and unoccupied.

The injured firefighter was transported to the hospital, though their current condition has not yet been released.
