Lincoln (NE) Fire Crews Battle Fire That Engulfed Three Homes

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were battling a large fire in a residential neighborhood Tuesday morning amid brutally cold conditions.

The first call came in a little after 7 a.m. for a fire at 406 S. 25th St., near 25th and L streets.

The fire quickly spread to two nearby houses, but firefighters were able to get the fire under control by about 8:30 a.m.

LFR declared it a four-alarm fire, and multiple fire trucks and engines were on scene, as firefighters needed to be rotated often because of the cold. At the time of the fire, the temperature in Lincoln was minus 6 with a wind chill of minus 26.

All occupants of the homes were able to evacuate and there were no injuries.
