A large fire broke out in Portsmouth Tuesday morning, drawing more than 80 firefighters to the scene.
The fire began around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Duke Street and Chestnut Street and engulfed a building in the 900 block of Duke Street, WAVY reports.
Officials have not yet determined whether it was an active business or abandoned at the time of the fire.
Several explosions were reported inside the building as the fire progressed and transformers on nearby power lines also exploded due to the intense heat.
Firefighters established a collapse zone as they worked the fire. There were no injuries.
