Video: Santa Fe (NM) Deputies Rescue Child from Burning Mobile Home

Body camera footage captured Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies rushing into a burning mobile home this week, saving a young boy trapped inside.

Deputies Levi Abeyta and Rudy Vallejo responded to the fire around 6 a.m. Monday near Veterans Memorial Highway and South Meadows Road, KQRE reports.

Upon arrival, they found that one boy had already escaped, but his younger brother remained inside.

The deputies kicked down the front door, only to be met with intense flames and a collapsing roof. As they continued searching from the exterior, Deputy Vallejo spotted a foot through a window and pulled the child to safety.

Both deputies received treatment for smoke inhalation. The cause remains under investigation.
