Jan. 8—A 92-year-old woman died from burns suffered in a home cooking fire, according to the city of North Las Vegas.

The incident was reported about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 5100 block of Zapata Lane, near Washburn Road and Clayton Street, officials said.

North Las Vegas Fire Department crews found the woman outside the home suffering from severe burns, officials said. She was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

Firefighters found no active fire in the residence but located a pot resting on a lit stove burner, officials said.

The identification of the woman, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, officials said.
