Worker Killed, Four Injured in MA Home Collapse Amid Strong Winds

A two-story home under construction collapsed just before noon on Tuesday at 19 Vine Street in Weymouth, killing one worker and injuring four others.

The collapse occurred suddenly, with witnesses describing a violent gust of wind moments before the structure gave way. One worker, identified as 29-year-old Mario Diaz Obando of Fall River, was trapped between the first and second floors. Firefighters used hand and power tools to reach him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, WCVB reports.

Four other workers sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical and were transported to South Shore Hospital. At least one of them was on the roof when the structure gave way, crashing down onto Vine Street.
