Tape Coding System

Colored tape is used to match equipment to its proper apparatus in the Wintersville, Ohio, Fire Department. Each vehicle is given a color code and that color of tape is placed on each piece of equipment stored on the unit. This has an advantage over painting a colored stripe or permanently marking the items because the tape color can be easily changed if the equipment must be moved, according to Assistant Chief W.
