The Fairview Park (OH) Fire Department uses this KME pumper as a first-due unit for all fires, MVAs, and hazmats, explains Chief David Simon. Its Class B foam system proves useful at hazmats and highway emergencies.
Features/Equipment:
- Predator Panther LFD chassis with 207-inch wheelbase and 12-inch raised-roof cab with six seats and EMS cabinet;
- CATERPILLAR C9 425-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 3000 EVS automatic transmission;
- HALE Qmax single-stage, 1,500-gpm pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 2001 system, 1½-inch front bumper line, three crosslays (two 1¾-inch; one 2½-inch), and AKRON Apollo monitor;
- UPF 750-gallon water and 20-gallon class B foam tanks;
- ROBINSON roll-up compartment doors and five wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
- ZICO ladder rack;
- HOLMATRO rescue tools;
- PHILLIPS AED; and
- light and power with ONAN six-kw hydraulic generator, three FRC floodlights (one brow; two midship), two WHELEN fixed scene lights on cab, and two HANNAY electric cord reels
The Varick (NY) Fire Department protects a rural area with a limited staffing response. Chief Jeff Case says that the department’s two apparatus are designed for multiple capabilities. This SEAGRAVE pumper/tanker has a powerful engine for adequate pumping capability and water movement and is easy to run. It can be set up by the driver and preset to operate while a line is deployed. This FOUTS BROS. light rescue truck is designed with wildland firefighting capabilities. It also has a plow for clearing long, private roads at scenes that can be drifted with snow.

- UPF T-type 2,000-gallon water tank with rear three-inch direct fill and 10-inch NEWTON dump valve;
- enclosed storage for ladders, suction hose, and a 2,100-gallon FOL-DA-TANK;
- Amdor roll-up compartment doors and four wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders; and
- light and power with an ONAN eight-kw hydraulic generator, four FRC floodlights, eight WHELEN scene lights on body, and two HANNAY electric cord reels.

- FORD F-550 Super Duty 4 × 4 chassis with 177-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab;
- FORD 6.4L Power Stroke diesel engine with automatic transmission;
- rear-mounted DARLEY single-stage, 2BE, 18V skid load, 375-gpm skid load pump with gasoline drive, BRIGGS & STRATTON 18-hp engine, 1½-inch preconnect, and one-inch HANNAY booster reel;
- UPF 300-gallon water tank;
- WESTERN MVP snow plow;
- ZOLL AED, BLS medical, and rope rescue equipment;
- SCOTT Eagle thermal imaging camera; and
- lighting with two FRC telescoping floodlights behind cab and two HONDA telelites mounted on inverters.
