The Chicago Sun Times reported that crews were called at about 12:30 p.m. for the confined space rescue at the Horsehead Corp., which recovers zinc metal, dust, and other materials from recycled sources. The silo was reportedly filled with cadmium and lead.
The victim was removed and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
